VMA Highlights

Fine!
I'm now officially a Beyonce fan!!

A lady named Irene kept me locked up indoors all weekend
Sunday Night had me cuddled up on the couch
Amazing food (made by yours truly) in hand
My favorite people next to me
Watching the VMAs in its entirety
(Can't remember the last time I watched a whole award show)

Highlight #1.
A lot of people would disagree but Lady Mr. Gaga was WONDERFUL!!!
I was fully entertained by her grease ball persona.
Chick is a performer and no one can say otherwise

Highlight #2
Adele!
What can I say
Her voice moves souls
No need for crazy costumes
No need for the moving and the shaking
Just her
A mic
Piano
. . .
She got me

Highlight #3
Chris Brown!
His performances blow.me.away
Always

BEST part of the night
BEYONCE BEYONCE BEYONCE!!!!!!!!
She looked stunning on the red carpet in her long red gown
and she absolutely killed her performance
Such a strong, powerful voice
You can't help but feel her passion
Her energy moves right through you
Nope
You just can't hate on the diva
You just can't do it
Mesmerizing
And then she showed off her baby bump at the end
. . .

Sigh
How can I possibly get enough of this performance?:

The Strivers Row Presents "The Classics"

Last week I went to a poetry show presented by The Strivers Row
"The Classics"

"The only thing I hate about love is that I'm not in it. . . " - Miles Hodges

i.love

An impressive night. Housed in the Galapagos Art Space in Dumbo, the night was destined for success. A unique and sultry interior, its got a 1,600 square foot lake. Yup! An extensive lake right inside an art space. Audience members are seated in islands creating a kind of intimate setting.

The Poets: Carvens Lissaint, Joshua Bennet, Jasmine Mans, Alysia Harris, Miles Hodges. Each with their own unique style came straight from the soul, bringing the sweetest treat to the table. Absolutely moving, absolutely motivating. Souls were stirred, hearts were warmed, power was felt that night at the Galapagos Art Space.

Accompanied by JoSunJari, a string trio composed of siblings (oldest 19 and youngest 10!), each poet performed a range of heartfelt "classic". They spoke of what it means to be a man; of the tragedy in Haiti; never wanting to be "that girl".  Michelle Obama; what it means to inspire young girls; financial aid and of course, love. Its the way they intertwine elements of the earth, music, soul, heart and honesty in each piece, that creates the most captivating work of art.

Some of the profound classics of the night: "10 Things I Want to Say to a Black Woman" By Joshua; "Love Poem" by Carvens; "Nicki Minaj" by Jasmine; "This Woman's Work" by Miles; and "That Girl" by Alysia. At the very end, we got a much welcomed impromptu performance of "All Falls Down" by Bridget Barkan. Men . . . that freckled red haired has got soul! The girl sang her heart out and was absolutely striking!

I basically just sat in awe through this classic performance
Took my breath away.

Luckily
There's a video

Unfortunately its missing the first half of the show
But check out the rest
Feel free to skip around

B&W Portraits

In case you haven't noticed
I've got a newfound obsession with B&W photography
The ability to create a roughness
With a subtle hint of calm
I'm all about that
Plus
B&W can be so dynamic
Using different levels on the grayscale

Grainy effect for a rock 'n roll feel
Still can't get enough of Theophilus London

Not fully B&W
But the hint of color makes it dreamy

Cool
Love this

Simple
Easy
With some highlights

(She'll kill me for this)
But
I adore this image

Simply gorgeous
Probably one of my fave images

We'll see how long this B&W thing lasts
But for now
I'm
Hopelessly obsessed
